Green & Black's
Yes! I’ve finally whittled it down to this brief. I know I said I was also looking at Ted Baker, but I had a good think through it, made some notes & the like but I didn’t get that feeling y’know, that driving force that makes you think ‘this is the one’. I got this more or less straight away with the G&B’s brief and started jotting down some notes/...
Urm-ing & Ahh-ing
I’ve spent all day looking over the YCN briefs, making notes & seeing which one would suit me best…and I’m afraid to say I’m no closer to picking one!!!
I’m stuck between Ted Baker & Green & Black’s. Ted Baker’s would be really challenging & would help me dip my toe into VM, as I’m starting to turn my head more towards this after...
Getting Ahead
It feels good to finally be ahead of myself, ideas seem to flow more freely when you’re not panicking about having to get things in. Essay’s done & dusted, now to focus on the new competition briefs! Looking over the D&AD ones, I really didn’t fancy any of them, especially considering I’ve been helping out with James’ (Advertising student) take on the...
Bus Aggro
Review - Bus advert
No, this won’t be an entry about how much I detest, despise & loathe traveling on the peasant wagon… but more about an advert I saw on the side of a First Manchester bus. Now, I’m pretty partial to the First branding, I think it’s quite nice despite the vivid pink/ purple colour choices. I much prefer it to Stagecoach anyway, lets put it that way.

I am a moron.
No I really am. I went into uni yesterday to print out my work & waited around the usual hour or so for it to come out. It came out, with several things I’m really not happy about, but with no more money & a hungry stomach, I packed everything up & went on my way…FAILING TO NOTICE I’D LEFT MY USB IN THE UNI COMPUTER!!! I am a moron. It’s not the usb I’m...
Making Things Clear
I’m so glad I went back to the drawing board with this work, it has come out better than I expected & I’ve now got good straplines/ ideas to integrate everything together. I’m really excited about this idea now, much more than I was with the previous direction, so I better hurry up & do it & stick it up here!
Shattered
So I’ve been working on my ice brief pretty much none stop for the last week & after the seminar today, it appears that the look I’ve gone for is a bit too Western & a little too reliant on our western interpretation of the gypsy/ fortune teller look. I effectively need to create my own Inuit styled look really, as my product is something new & feasible, but heavily relies...

Finally!
Nice to see Tumblr has finally let me log in! Not that I seemed to have missed much - Christmas seems to have left a void of posts up here (of which I am guilty of too!)
Anyway things seems to be progressing nicely;
essay is started, lots of books out for that. I’m actually really enjoying it, I’m familiar with Laura Mulvey already but in the film context, so I’ve been enjoying...
Pitseolak Ashoona: Eskimo Illustrator →
In reference to my previous post….
Here is the link to Pitseolak Ashoona, an Inuit who has always wanted to draw all her life. The link shows a good few pages from the book she has illustrated & some of her pictures are lovely. The ones of the birds, the detailing on it very much reminded me of the stylised nature of Yellow Submarine & I think to include some illustrations like this...
