Like Brother, Like Sister →
I am proud to say, that my brother & I are very similar.
Very similar in the fact that we are both pretty geeky when it comes to nice websites we have seen. He sent me a text this morning about this website & it’s one that should be shared. Does exactly what it says on the tin in that the site shows some very clever adverts from around the world. I particularly like the Reporters...

Motion Graphics experiment: Moving posters
Just a quick play around with the basic animation tools in After Effects. Really like the film Trainspotting & the poster graphics are really iconic, so I thought no matter how much I messed with this one, it would still be recognisable. The original teaser...
I will put up some work when I finally stop going on with myself about things I have seen!
New Musa →
After my last post about the Musa book, I found the website. Just like the book, it is wonderfully visual & inspiring. The book was made in 2006, so it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the website to see what new work they are producing & to compare it to recent british graphics. They’re currently working on a new website (of which the typographically illustrated background is...
Are you telling me that you built a time machine… Out of a DeLorean?!
– If you don’t know this, shame shame.
This was my second attempt at the motion workshop exercise with the moving landscapes. I did not have to go back to Photoshop & cut everything out again - I could’ve, but i basically had to ‘hold’ the mask, so that it didn’t flow but rather jerk like the still frame photos. Certainly saved me a good half an hour!
Motion experiment - Simple animation
For this experiment, we had to create a simple backgroud, foreground & add stop frame photos of ourselves simply walking across the animation.
Unfortunetly, my animation has massive spaces in it where it appears the masking is moving faster than the photos - this is because I changed the mask considerably on each photo, resulting in the mask constantly...
Waterstones Rebrand = Waste Of Money →
Finally found an article that agrees with what I first thought when I saw the Waterstones rebranded logo - it’s rubbish. The article does bring up a fair point that the logo works well on the website, but it really doesn’t on the front of the building. By definition of Waterstones being a book shop, you automatically associate serif fonts with it. They’re classic & transcend...
Old People Have The Best Stories.
Been listening to those dialogues for the motion brief & they really are brilliant. Most of them sound like elderly people & their stories of growing up are fascinating to listen to. I think that story telling defines elderly people, they’ve made it an art form - one that’s lost on our generation what with all our digital forms of communicating. Whenever I bob down to my...
